Lives wild in Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, and 23 more countries.
Adults occur in intertidal areas, like tide pools, rocky slopes, and places where there are boulders on the bottom. Actively shuttle back and forth between rock-pools and air. They breathe air and can remain out of water for up to 2 hours if kept moist. Feed mainly on algae. Oviparous. Eggs are demersal and adhesive, and are attached to the substrate via a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal. Larvae are planktonic, often found in shallow, coastal waters.
